“Alyssa Mohn’s clever set design melds a large Gothic tower for Val and Rose’s home, and features two coffins that arise from the stage floor. By contrast, the stage itself is flanked by silhouettes of the Chicago skyline lit up by tubular lights in blue and white, and the metal staircases leading to the Lookingglass balcony also add a contemporary urban feel, as well as expanding the action throughout the theater.”
